My Story

My name is Katelyn Cotton and I am planning to graduate in 2026 from the University of Cincinnati. I am majoring in Political Science with a Certificate in Legal Studies. I plan to enroll in the 4+1 program and graduate with my master’s degree in Political Science in 2027. I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated with honors from Walnut Hills High School in 2023. On campus, I am involved in the University Honors Program, the Cincinnati Ethics Center, the Darwin T. Turner Scholars program, and I am a Marian Spencer Scholar. I am majoring in political science because I want to understand people and cultures, and in order to have a full understanding of the world and the people living in it, you have to understand politics. It is a direct reflection of the cultural values of a place and (hopefully) its people. After getting my degrees in Political Science I plan to go to law school.

When I’m not doing homework, I love to be outside or reading a book. Hiking with my dog or sitting down with a good book are my favorite ways to relax and reset after a hard day. I also love to spend time with friends and family, my favorite memories were made with the people who know me best.
