Tales of Resiliance
Scroll ↓
Tales of Resilience is a Dungeons and Dragons style experience that is meant to showcase some of the causes and effects of inequality. Before I started Tales of Resilience I had no experience with Dungeons and Dragons, or any other kind of role-playing game so I was pretty nervous to start playing. But, a large part of my definition of a Global Citizen Scholar is a willingness and eagerness to try new things, so even though I had no experience with Dungeons and Dragons, I wanted to try Tales of Resilience anyway. I believe that a true Global Citizen Scholar needs to seek out new experiences, not just be willing to do new things when an opportunity is presented.
Along with wanting to try something new, the layers of the world we would be playing in were very interesting to me. As a political science major, I am always interested in learning about new and different cultures, even when they are not real. The most interesting thing I took away from participating in the Tales of Resilience program is that there is inequality in every society. It is never fair, and inequality is always a detriment to all parts of society not just the discriminated against population.
The final part of the program is a presentation on the progression of your character through the experience, I have attached my presentation below.
